Istanbul- March 2001

We went to our regional conference to meet our colleagues, but mainly to see Istanbul. Highlights included visiting the Sultan's Palace and the Blue Mosque, having a Turkish Bath, and haggling for a Turkish carpet. (I think I got a great deal!)

Brett and Devon salute the Turkish flag.

"Come see my rugs, my friends! Beautiful baby! I give you a special price!"

After two years of bland Polish grub, we went crazy in the Spice Market.

We stopped in to see a courtyard, and Devon made friends with some Turks.

They took us in and gave Devon some chocolate dipped in tea.

Talk about spoiled! Devon had a Turkish Bath.

The mosques were lit up and stunning at night.

Speaking of nightlife, the belly dancing was entertaining.

Devon said,"Can't we find some good, wholesome, FAMILY entertainment?!?"

So we took him across the Bosophorous to Asian side of Istanbul.

After a few dips in the heated pool Dev became accustomed to luxury.

Well Devon, you'd better get ready for colder waters this summer!
