We drove the countryside and visited small towns, each with its own unique history. We toured the tunnels of Tabor and the Budvar (The Original Budweiser) Brewery. We enjoyed the beauty of Cesky Krumlov and Telc, both UNSECO Heritage Sites. Finally, we did a 12 mile hike to see Devin Castle and to work off all the Keilbasa and Goulash we ate!
Our first stop in Bohemia was the town of Tabor. In the 13th century
Hussites dug16 km of tunnels linking the city.
Our pension had been in the owners' family for hundreds of years and
had three levels of tunnels.
The square in Cesky Budovice from the top of the Dark Tower.
You can see Mom carrying two big shopping bag of Czech Crystal in the
lower corner of the square.
Over 120 million bottles of beer are produced per day at the Budvar
plant, almost enough to keep up with Dad.
The Castle Tower in Cesky Krumlov.
The bridge leading to the castle.
The river wound around the town and had
us thoroughly confused.
The Town Square in Telc.
The Jewish Cemetary in Mikulov.
Over 4,000 Jews are buried here, making it the largest Jewish
Cemetary in Czech.
We had lunch with Marie, whose husband picked up Brett as he
hitchhiked from Prague in 1989.
